You do not want to reach Burj Lake at 6:40 PM and learn that the next show is at 7:00 PM, or stand in the thickest crowd on the promenade when a quiet bridge two minutes away gives a better view. This guide fixes both problems. Here are the full Dubai Fountain timings from the official Dubai Mall page, the best free places to stand, and an honest look at the two paid extras.
One piece of good news first: the fountain reopened on 1 October 2025 after its upgrade work, and the full show schedule is running again. Any old page that still says the fountain is closed is out of date.
Dubai Fountain timings at a glance

Afternoon shows
- Saturday to Thursday: 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM
- Friday: 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM
Evening shows
- Every day: every 30 minutes from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM
That is 13 shows a day in total. Each show lasts about 5 minutes. The shows rotate through a repertoire of music and routines, so two shows in one evening may not match. Watching from anywhere around the lake is free. You do not need a ticket for the normal view.
Timings checked on the official Dubai Mall page (thedubaimall.com), 19 October 2026. Timings can change on public holidays and during Ramadan, so check the same page on the day if your visit falls in those periods.
Dubai Fountain show times, explained simply

People search for Dubai Mall fountain timings because the show sits right outside the mall, on the 30-acre Burj Lake. The pattern is easy once you see it.
The two afternoon shows are the quiet ones. From Saturday to Thursday they run at 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM. On Friday they run later, at 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM, so do not use the weekday times on a Friday. This Friday change is the detail most guides get wrong, so it is worth saying clearly: Friday afternoon means 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM.
The evening shows are the famous ones. They start at 6:00 PM and then repeat every 30 minutes: 6:00, 6:30, 7:00, and so on until the last show at 11:00 PM. There is no need to book or queue for a ticket. Just be at the lake before the time you want.
Each performance is short, about 5 minutes, so missing one is not a disaster. Another one comes half an hour later. Many visitors watch two or three shows from different spots in one evening.
Which show should you catch?

The 6:00 PM show is the dusk show. In the winter months the sky still holds some colour at 6:00 PM, and you see the fountains, the lake and Burj Khalifa in soft evening light. It is the best show for photos that show the whole scene, not just the lights.
In winter, the shows from 6:30 PM onwards play in full darkness. In summer, expect full darkness from about 7:30 PM. The 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM window is when the lights and colours stand out most, and this is the Dubai Fountain of the postcards. It is also when the promenade is at its most crowded, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
The shows from 10:00 PM onwards come with a fraction of the crowd. If you are having dinner in the area anyway, this is the smart local move: eat first, then watch in peace with a front-row spot on the railing.
The afternoon shows are the no-crowd option. There are no light effects in daylight, and the summer sun on the promenade is strong, but in the cooler months they are a calm way to see the water dance, especially with small children who will be asleep by the evening shows.
The best free places to watch

The Waterfront Promenade, right outside Dubai Mall, is the closest free spot. You stand at the railing with the fountains in front of you and Burj Khalifa behind you. This is where most people go, so arrive 20 to 30 minutes before a popular evening show if you want the front row.
The Souk Al Bahar bridge is the photographer’s spot. The short bridge between Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar gives the classic picture: fountains in front, Burj Khalifa rising behind them. It fills up early for the first evening shows, so claim a place well before 6:00 PM, or come for a later show.
Burj Park, on the far side of the lake, is the relaxed spot. It is a green park with open space, so children can move around and you are not pressed shoulder to shoulder. The view is a little further away, but many families prefer it.
For a sit-down view, the restaurant terraces at Souk Al Bahar and along the mall waterfront face the lake. You pay for dinner, not for a ticket, and you watch in comfort. Book a terrace table and ask for a fountain-facing seat.
The two paid ways to get closer: are they worth it?

There are two paid extras, and both solve the same problem: the crowd.
The Dubai Fountain Boardwalk is a floating platform on the lake, about 272 metres long. It takes you onto the water, and at its closest point you stand only about 9 metres from the fountains. No heads in front of you, no pushing, and you feel the size of the jets in a way the promenade cannot give. For most visitors, this is the better upgrade: simple, close, and you watch the full show on your feet. The Boardwalk is open from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM, so it does not run for the afternoon shows.
The Dubai Fountain Lake Ride puts you on a traditional wooden abra boat for a ride of about 30 minutes on Burj Lake. The boat leaves roughly 15 minutes before a show and stops on the water so you watch the performance from the lake itself, with Burj Khalifa lit up behind the fountains. It is the special-occasion pick, lovely for couples and for a first night in Dubai.
One honest note on prices. We checked the official Dubai Mall fountain page on 19 October 2026. It lists the show times but not the prices for these two extras, and ticket sellers online quote different prices for both. So we do not print a price here that we cannot stand behind. Check the price at the ticket kiosk by the lake, or on the official booking page, before you decide. Prices checked: 19 October 2026.
Our verdict: the free view is genuinely good, so nobody needs to pay. Pay for the boardwalk if you hate crowds. Pay for the boat if the evening is a special one.
Crowds: how to get a good spot without the fight

The busiest shows are the first full-dark ones, from about 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM, and weekend evenings are busier than weekday evenings all year round. Winter is peak season, so from December to February, give yourself extra time.
Three simple tricks fix most of the crowd problem. First, arrive 20 to 30 minutes early for any show you care about; the railing fills from the middle outwards, so the edges still have space later. Second, pick a later show, at 10:00 PM or later, when the same view comes with a quiet promenade. Third, if the promenade is packed, walk two minutes to the Souk Al Bahar bridge or cross to Burj Park instead of pushing into the middle.
Stand a little back from the very front on windy evenings. When the wind blows towards the promenade, the fine spray from the fountains can drift over the first rows. It is only water, but your camera lens will notice it.
How to reach the Dubai Fountain

The fountain is on Burj Lake in Downtown Dubai, between Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar, below Burj Khalifa.
From inside Dubai Mall, go to the Lower Ground floor and follow the signs for the Dubai Fountains and the Waterfront Promenade. The exit brings you straight onto the promenade, and the lake is in front of you.
By Metro, take the Red Line to the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall station, then follow the long air-conditioned walkway into the mall and go down to the Lower Ground exit. By taxi or car, ask for Dubai Mall and use the same Lower Ground exit; the mall has large paid car parks.
If you are coming from the Souk Al Bahar side, cross the bridge and you are at the promenade. The whole area is flat and easy to walk, and there are cafes on both sides if you arrive early.
Make an evening of it

The easy plan is: mall in the afternoon, fountain at dusk, dinner after. Watch the 1:00 PM or 1:30 PM afternoon show while you are already at the mall, do your shopping, then come back out for the 6:00 PM show and eat at Souk Al Bahar while the evening shows repeat behind you.
Pair the fountain with Burj Khalifa on the same evening if you can. Go up the tower first, then come down to the lake for the shows. Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are the Dubai Fountain timings?
Afternoon shows run at 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM from Saturday to Thursday, and at 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM on Friday. Evening shows run every day, every 30 minutes, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Checked on the official Dubai Mall page on 19 October 2026.
2. Is the Dubai Fountain free to watch?
Yes. Watching from the Waterfront Promenade, the Souk Al Bahar bridge and Burj Park costs nothing. Only the two extras cost money: the floating boardwalk and the abra lake ride.
3. Which Dubai Fountain show is the best one to watch?
The 6:00 PM show gives dusk light and the full scene in one photo. The shows between 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM are the most dramatic in full darkness but the most crowded. Later shows are far quieter.
4. How long does each Dubai Fountain show last?
About 5 minutes. The shows rotate through a repertoire, so two shows in one evening may not match.
5. Where is the best free place to watch the Dubai Fountain?
The Waterfront Promenade outside Dubai Mall is the closest. The Souk Al Bahar bridge is best for photos with Burj Khalifa in the frame. Burj Park is best if you want space and a quieter view with children.
